The Effects of Surgery Time on Healing of Flaps.
Abstract
Partial and full thickness flaps were made in dogs and were reflected for 90, 45, or 15 minutes. Specimens were examined histologically from 3 to 28 days. The results indicate that flaps reflected for shorter periods of time exhibited faster epithelial closure. Partial thickness flaps at 3 and 7 days had less inflammation than full thickness flaps and healed faster in respect to epithelial closure, mesenchymal healing, and bone regeneration. (Author)
