Standard Reference Element for Nondestructive Test of Filter-Coalescer Elements.
Abstract
Under a previous contract a nondestructive tester for filter-coalescer elements was designed, built, and evaluated. The current program was designed to develop a reference element of known characteristics which would not vary with time or location. Such a reference element has been developed, and is described in this report. A secondary objective of this program was to investigate the use of a liquid crystal indicator system and to deliver such a system as an alternative to the tracer-gas-dye system. A liquid crystal system has been selected, and the system and operating conditions are specified.
