Review of the Weldability of Construction Materials.

Abstract

The report reviews the concept of weldability of construction materials. Metallurgical and mechanical properties influenced by welding are discussed, as are the effects of welding variables such as heat input, nugget area, and cooling rate. An experimental procedure is proposed to document significant welding parameter ranges. The results of the experimental procedure will provide a data base for other research on the nondestructive testing of field welds.
