Command and Control Methodology Study. Volume IV. Modulation and Coding Techniques.

Abstract

This volume of the Final Report covers analysis of modulation and coding techniques in satisfaction of the task requirements of the Command and Control Methodology Study contract. The analytical work described in this volume of the Final Report relates to two of the assigned task areas under the contract. Primary emphasis is on the methodology for analyzing spread-spectrum systems and techniques. However, the methodology is also applicable for analyzing and predicting the performance of conventional modulation systems as well as spread spectrum systems. The methodology for determining bit-error rates for ASK, multi-FSK and multi-PSK modulations and character error rates for Morse and teleprinter systems is also applicable to the analyses contained in Volume 2 of this report.
