A Non-Reflecting Electromagnetic Outer Boundary Condition for Cylindrical Coordinates and the SGEMP Problem.

Abstract

The outer, non-reflective boundary condition for the numerical solution of the full time dependent set of Maxwell's equations for the SGEMP problem is discussed. A boundary condition which has a fractional error of roughly lambda/2 pi R (lambda is the maximum wavelength of the radiation, R is the distance from the origin to the boundary) is defined and tested for an axially symmetric system in cylindrical coordinates and real time. Boundary condition schemes with greater potential accuracy are considered.
