An Analysis of the Inflationary Effects on Inventory Systems.

Abstract

This report was done as a continuation of a study done by Dr. Ram B. Misra, Texas A and M University, on the effects of inflation of different inventory systems such as the lot-size and order-level-lot-size systems. Dr. Misra's study concluded that inflation had some significant effects on certain parameters in the lot-size system. In this study a sensitivity analysis is done for the lot-size, order-level-lot-size, and finite production rate systems. Three numerical examples are used in the analysis and tables and graphs are given illustrating the results of each system. Also in this report, an analysis is done on the effectiveness of the starting solution for the various systems mentioned in arriving at the optimal solution for the lot size. (Author)
