Mechanisms of Hemolysis.

Abstract

Studies of human platelet rich plasma subjected to in vitro models of surface injury in shear stress demonstrated significant inhibition of adhesiveness and aggregation, without release of serotonin. Platelet procoagulant activity was increased suggesting severe membrane damage. These studies are important for the design of blood handling systems.
