The Reduction of Base Strain Sensitivity of a Triaxial Accelerometer by the Use of a Mounting Pad.

Abstract

AN investigation has been carried out into the reduction of the base strain sensitivity of a triaxial piezoelectric accelerometer by the use of lightweight mounting pads of varying design. Test procedures for the measurement of base strain sensitivity followed the recommended practice of the Instrument Society of America. A reduction in base strain sensitivity of 26 times was obtained for the best strain relieving mounting pad. The reduction in operating frequency range resulting from the use of the mounting pad was also investigated. (Author)
