Investigation of Operator Performance and Related Design Variables in Undersea Force Feedback Manipulator Systems, December 1975.

Abstract

The objective of the research described in this paper is directed toward the theoretical and experimental aspects involved in the matching of the skills of the human operator with the design of a complex manipulator system. It describes the progress of developing a series of standard engineering test procedures which provide a means of documenting independent variables selected for study. The analysis, definition, and selection of key variables present in force feedback manipulators has been included as a guide in the design of specific experiments. (Author)
