Guidelines for Estimation of Non-Linear Least Squares Power Functions and Upper Limit Curves,

Abstract

A non-linear least squares procedure for estimating power function coefficients is presented in this report. A procedure is recommended for obtaining associated prediction and tolerance upper limit curves. A technique to prevent outlier caused distortions in mean power functions and upper limit curves caused by outliers is also described. This report should be used as a user's guide at the Naval Air Test Facility (NATF) for generating power functions and upper limit curves. Examples given in this report provide practitioner handy checkout guides.
