On the Visibility of Internal-Wave-Induced Perturbations in the Wind-Wave Field.

Abstract

The pertinent factors are discussed which control the visibility of differentially roughened areas on the sea surface, and an attempt is made to quantify this visibility for particular simple incoming sky radiation fields. The predictions of our simple theoretical model with measurements obtained from photographs are compared in which the wind-wave perturbations were caused by internal wave currents.
