Troposcatter Interleaver.

Abstract

An interleaved Golay code and a new adaptive multiple rate coding approach were implemented and tested over a troposcatter simulator and actual tropo link. The application of error correction coding for troposcatter communications demonstrated that significant savings in transmitter power (or equivalently, reductions in error rate) can be achieved by a coded system for decoding delays in the range of 50 milliseconds to 1/2 second. In addition, the feasibility of applying an optimum maximum likelihood (Viterbi) algorithm for digital communications in a troposcatter multipath environment was demonstrated. (Author)
