Operating Frequencies for the NAVSTAR/Global Positioning System
Abstract
A new aeronautical radionavigation system is being established to provide accurate worldwide navigation. The system employs transmitters mounted in earth orbitting satellites. The choice of operating frequencies for this system is limited by system accuracy on the one hand and satellite cost on the other. The technical basis for frequency choices is given along with the regulatory circumstances, the system options which should be retained, and an explanation of radiated power requirements.
