Target Acquisition Performance with an Airborne Television System. Part 2. High-Altitude, High-Speed Study,

Abstract

The report describes a simulation study of target acquisition performance with an air-to-ground television system. The study provides data on success probability and slant range at acquisition as a function of flight profile, velocity, and meteorological range. The task of the observer in the study was to search and acquire a prebriefed target area, acquire the target, and center the target on the TV display. The performance measures were: probability of target area acquisition, target acquisition, and lock-on, and slant range to the target at target area acquisition, target acquisition, and lock-on.
