Some Test Results on the SIMSCRIPT II.5 and SIMPL/1 Pseudorandom Number Generators.

Abstract

This paper presents results of applying the runs up and down test, the chi-square goodness-of-fit test and the serial test to streams of pseudorandom numbers generated by the pseudorandom number generators implemented in the IBM version of SIMSCRIPT II.5, in SIMPL/1 and using their default seeds. Although this limited testing prevents general conclusions, the results presented here do identify several areas of concern.
