Abstract

This report reviews the experience in construction of artificial foundations in connection with the erection of residential and industrial buildings and structures, including hydraulic engineering and transport construction, accumulated in the USSR, Hungary, and Poland, and also in England, France, Japan, Italy, and Canada. It presents the design of piling foundations, the technology of their erection, and the equipment used for the purpose. It describes advanced methods of reinforcing the ground. It gives a variety of practical and theoretical information of interest to specialists in the field of foundation construction.
