A Note on Front-Surface Thermoelastic Relaxation.

Abstract

Some recent analytic results for the one-dimensional thermoelastic response of materials exposed to pulsed energy deposition are cast into a form convenient for studying the effects of front-surface relaxation occurring during the exposure time. Numerical calculations are presented for the relaxation as a function of exposure time for several common energy deposition profiles. (Author)
