1,000 Watt Peak Pulsed Power Amplifier 960 MHz to 1215 MHz.

Abstract

The purpose of this program was to develop a one kilowatt peak microwave power amplifier for broadband operation over the frequency range 960 MHz to 1215 MHz using a maximum of four output transistors in parallel, 250 watt peak power each. The amplifier was to be capable of high level modulation using two basic pulse shapes (square, Gaussian). The very high power required those transistor parameters and masks which critically affect microwave pulse power performance be optimized to achieve the final operation results required by the contract. Special circuitry was developed to accommodate high power broadband performance.
