Electrochemical Techniques for Reducing Enzyme Alarm Interferences.

Abstract

Work was directed toward improvement of the existing electrochemical enzyme alarm system. Interferences caused by Cl2, SO2, H2S, CO and CN were studied. Cl2 must be removed before entering the cell. CO and CN are not electro-active at the low potential used. With compensating differential voltammetry, the otherwise serious interferences caused by low levels of SO2 and H2S, can be eliminated. This was demonstrated by adding a silver reference electrode to the existing three platinum electrode configuration of the cell and employing new electronic circuitry. (Author)
