A Software Reliability Modeling Study,

Abstract

This report describes the first phase of a study initiated to apply several software reliability error prediction models from the literature to error data from a large command and control software project. This error data details the complete error history of this project from the start of validation testing through the end of demonstration testing, and also includes actual operational error data. The actual study involves obtaining predictions from the various models used, and comparing the predicted results with the actual error data history. From these comparisons, analysis to determine the reasons why the predicted results did or did not agree with actual results is performed. This report presents the predicted results, analysis of results, and includes some general comments on overall trends and possible future extensions of this study. (Author)
