Interdraw Annealing on the Scamp Case Submodule

Abstract

A decision risk analysis was performed to determine the optimal number of cup draws and interdraw anneals required during manufacture of 5.56mm brass cartridge cases on modernized, high speed production equipment. The recommended approach to satisfying the current 5.56mm TDP consists of a two draw process without an interdraw anneal. However, should a grain structure requirement be imposed on the existing TDP, then the optimal configuration would be two draws with an interdraw anneal. These recommendations are limited to 5. 56mm brass cases only and can not be extended to other calibers or case materials without reviewing and revising the input data.
