Navy Career Counseling Research: Command Retention Team Study

Abstract

This research was directed toward investigating the effectiveness of the Command Retention Team (CRT) concept in operation. Criteria were developed to measure the impact of CRT members, including career counselors and division officers, on retention and personnel satisfaction at the unit level. Techniques designed for use at the unit level to assist commands in measuring CRT effectiveness were developed; CRT concept effectiveness in support of the command retention program was associated with unit retention data; and actions which the Navy might take to improve functioning of the CRT concept were identified. Conclusions based on observation and results of group and individual interviews, surveys, sensing sessions and record reviews were also presented.
