On Impulse Response Data and the Uniqueness of the Inverse Problem.

Abstract

The problem of reconstructing the density and elastic properties of a slab of infinite horizontal extent and finite thickness set in motion by a double couple excitation is considered. It is shown that the information contained in the amplitude and frequency response associated with a single horizontal wave number is sufficient to insure the uniqueness of the solution of this inverse problem.
