Production Engineering Measure for Polysulfone Capacitors for Short Intrusion Proximity Fuze.

Abstract

The object of the PEM was satisfied in that non-metal cased metallized polysulfone film capacitors were improved by production process and techniques to meet the requirements of Specifications MIL-C-55514A, SCS442 and 25000 G Shock tests as required for proximity fuzes. Pilot Run units using the manufacturing processes gained from the work program were capable of attaining calculated failure rates of .485%/1000 hours on the .56UF unit, .247%/1000 hours on the .1UF unit and .432%/1000 hours on the 2UF unit. Failure rates are based on rated voltage at 85C and 90% confidence level.
