Stress Analysis of Pallet Lever Shaft

Abstract

A stress analysis of the pallet lever shaft in the M125A1 Booster Runaway Assembly has been performed. The loading was such that bending and shear stress calculations in two orthogonal planes were required. Both elastic and plastic flow calculations were performed for the bending which was machined on the originally circular section, were estimated. The mode of failure was shown to be a ductile, plastic weakening and loss of load carrying capacity.
