The Iterative Determination of Model Parameters by Newton's Method

Abstract

The principle of Newton's method for determining a zero of a function has been adopted to the problem of determining parameters a sub 1, a sub 2,..... , a sub n such that y (t;a sub 1, a sub 2,....., a sub n) = 0 for almost all values of t. The method has been applied to the solution of a particular equation. Methods for determining initial guesses are also presented.
