Design Parameters of a Prototype System for Impact Ordnance Range Clearance

Abstract

Effective methods and mechanized means must be devised for massive decontamination of target ranges and ordnance impact areas. This report has developed design parameters for a prototype system that will perform surface and subsurface ordnance clearance tasks on impact ranges. The system incorporates existing civilian and military construction equipment using necessary modifications made at reasonable costs. A reliable subsurface ordnance detection and location capability is required. A range data collection system should be instituted, as well as search strategy technique, to enable the clearance system to achieve maximum effectiveness.
