Calm Water Equilibrium Conditions For Surface Effect Ships (SES) using a Newton-Raphson Iteration Technique,

Abstract

The Newton-Raphson iteration techniques for the solution of nonlinear simultaneous equations is applied to the determination of the calm water equilibrium trim and draft conditions of a surface effect ship (SES) travelling at a constant forward speed. Results are presented for the SES 100-B for a range of speeds. This technique was developed as a subroutine to interface with an existing dynamic digital simulation program; however it can be modified to be a stand-along program. (Author)
