Optical Detection of Ultrasound in Paramagnetic Crystals.

Abstract

Optical detection methods were employed to investigate the interaction of applied coherent phonons with the excited state spin system of molecular crystals. Results are reported and discussed concerning both single and double quantum resonant interactions as well as phonon-nuclear quadrupole interactions and non-resonant spin-phonon interactions.
