Experimental Yellow Fever Virus Infection of Rhesus Monkeys.

Abstract

This report summarizes several studies which were designed to characterize experimental yellow fever in rhesus monkeys. The predictability of the incubation period (58-103 h), duration of clinical illness (14-47 h), and time to death (90-132 h) following SC inoculation of 10-1,000 MICLD50 of virus provides a useful model to study the pathogenesis of a group B togavirus disease and therapeutic regimens which alter the disease in monkeys.
