The Temporary Environment - Cold Regions Habitability
Abstract
After classifying government environments in Alaska and studying four Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) and three Aircraft Control and Warning (AC and W) stations (in Phases 1 and 2), a cold regions environmental psychology behavior setting survey was made of Fort Wainwright, Alaska, to complete Phase 3. Phase 4 analyzed Fort Wainwright data and compared it with the FAA and AC and W data and previous studies. The military locations could be characterized as temporary environments. The military environments differed from civilian environments in the behavioral areas of religion, government and professionalism. Stations were rated for rich or deprived environment and leadership opportunities.
