Post-Mission Smoothing and Analysis of the Measurements of the Change in the Deflection of the Vertical Obtained by the Rapid Geodetic Survey System (RGSS) at the White Sands Test Range

Abstract

The objectives of this report were: (1) to apply off-line post- mission smoothing to raw real-time estimates of the changes in the deflection of the vertical as collected by the Rapid Geodetic Survey System (RGSS) at White Sands; (2) to analyze the residual errors in the smoothed estimates of the changes in the deflection of the vertical for those runs where reference change information was available to determine significant sources of estimate degradation; and (3) to recommend a further course of action as a result of this analysis which should lead to improvement in the deflection recovery accuracy of the RGSS.
