Structure Identification via Mass Spectrometry, Tetranitro Azoxy and Azotoluenes.

Abstract

The mass spectra of 2,2',6,6'-tetranitro-4,4'-azoxytoluene, 4,4',6,6'-tetranitro-2,2'-azoxytoluene and their mixed isomers 2,4'-dimethyl-3,3',5,5'-tetranitro-ONN-azoxybenzene and 2',4-dimethyl-3,3',5,5'-tetranitro-ONN-azoxybenzene are discussed and arguments are presented for the assignment of structures to the mixed isomers. The mass spectra of the corresponding symmetrical azotoluene isomers are also presented.
