Vibro-Seismic Survey, High-Stability AEC Structure, Oak Ridge, Tennessee,

Abstract

These tests were conducted to determine the elastic properties of the soil at three proposed building sites considered for the location of a high-stability foundation to be constructed by the Atomic Energy Commission (AEC) near Oak Ridge, Tennessee. Excavation for the building foundation will be in close proximity of an existing laboratory building. Since blasting for rock removal is contemplated, the attenuation characteristics of the soil were determined so safety criteria could be established.
