The Polar Problem in a Global Prediction Model

Abstract

This report investigates the behavior of the model when the initial flow is over the pole. The numerical solution eventually becomes unstable with this initial state. The difficulty is controlled by modifying the v field on the latitude circle which is closest to the pole.
