Image Understanding and Information Extraction

Abstract

The objective of the research is to achieve a better understanding of image structure and to use this knowledge to develop techniques for image analysis and processing tasks, especially information extraction. The emphasis is on the syntactic decomposition and recognition of imagery based on scene analysis. It is hoped that this research will form the basis for the development of technology relevant to military applications of machine extraction of information from aircraft and satellite imagery.
