Electrical Conductivity of Ion Exchange Resins.

Abstract

The electrical conductivity of Dowex-1 in the C1(-), Br(-), I(-) and N03(-) forms have been determined at pressures ranging up to 2000 atmospheres. Activation volumes for the conduction process closely match the crystallographic volumes of the anions. The data sheds light on the conduction mechanism in ion selective electrodes employing polymeric membranes. (Author)
