Inelastic Collisions of Excited Atoms.

Abstract

The interaction of metastable rare gas atoms with ground state atoms is being investigated in the energy range from several eV to 1 keV. Emphasis is on collisional ionization and collisional excitation transfer. Additional work examines details of the charge transfer reaction used to produce the fast metastable atom beams.
