Evaluation of the Potential Hazards from Actinic Ultraviolet Radiation Generated by Electric Welding and Cutting Arcs, December 1975 - September 1976.
Abstract
A special study of the potential hazards from actinic ultraviolet radiation generated from various welding processes was conducted by the US Army Environmental Hygiene Agency as part of a cooperative effort with the American Welding Society Committee on Safety and Health. It was determined that potentially hazardous ultraviolet radiation was emitted by all of the welding processes that were evaluated. These processes included: gas tungsten arc welding, gas metal arc welding, flux cored arc welding, plasma arc cutting, plasma arc welding and shielded metal arc welding. (Author)
