Use of Commercial 'Off-the-Shelf' Equipment in Military Aircraft

Abstract

The goals of the project were to identify and evaluate the documents controlling the performance, environmental testing and reliability testing of commercial avionics equipment, and to compare these procedures with conventional military practice, and to analyze and highlight those factors which impact the decision of an acquisition program manager who is considering the use of commercial equipment in military aircraft.
