The Inevitability of the Paradox of New Members.

Abstract

This paper presents an axiomatic proof that the paradox of new members can not be avoided. Axioms that should be satisfied by every power index are offered and, when an axiom specifically intended to avoid the paradox is added, a contradiction is derived. This is done for the two different formulation of the paradox of new members. (Author)
