Camouflage Materials for Fixed-Installation Concealment.
Abstract
Results are presented of a survey of the state of the art of fixed-installation camouflage, comprising an extensive examination of pertinent literature relating to the subject. The practices of fixed-installation camouflage are reviewed under eight general headings: natural materials, hiding and screening materials, garnishing and texturing materials, supporting materials, coloring materials, ground pattern techniques, decoys, and smoke and aerosol screens. Principles of electromagnetic surveillance are discussed for devices operating from gamma-ray to microwave spectral regions. A catalog of pertinent camouflage materials, a description of camouflage items, and a comprehensive bibliography are included in Appendixes A, B, and C. respectively.
