Lectures on Estuarine Circulations and Mass Distributions.

Abstract

This report is concerned with the physical aspects of estuaries. A semi-enclosed coastal body of water which has a free connection with the open sea and is a mixture of salt water and fresh water. It usually posseses an estuarine circulation of an outflow in the upper layer composed of a mixture of salt water and fresh water and an inflow in the lower layers characterized by saltier sea water. This report will attempt to clarify to some extent the problem of classifying estuaries.
