Oxide Dispersion Strengthened High Volume Fraction Gamma Prime Ni-Cr-Al Alloys Made by Mechanical Alloying.

Abstract

An investigation was conducted to determine the feasibility of producing oxide dispersion strengthened high volume fraction gamma prime Ni-Cr-Al alloys by mechanical alloying. The objective of this work was to develop ODS alloys which would derive a significant high temperature strength increment from the retention of high volume fractions (greater than 50%) of gamma prime at their intended use temperature of 2000 F. In addition, higher aluminum, beta phase containing alloys were investigated, as well as quaternary additions of Ti and W to a high volume fraction gamma prime base alloy.
