Environmental Sampling in the Panama Canal Zone. 1 December 1976.

Abstract

This is a report evaluating the pesticide residue data obtained from environmental samples of water, sediment, and soil collected during CY 73 - CY 75 from the Canal Zone for their adequacy in preparing an environmental pesticide profile. The water and sediment data do not indicate any significant contamination of the aquatic environment by persistent pesticides. The soil data, although not sufficiently complete, tentatively indicate that the disappearance of even persistent pesticides may be exceptionally rapid in the tropical climate of the Canal Zone. This report also discusses the nature and scope of pest management operations in the Canal Zone.
