Display Materials Evaluation Program.
Abstract
This document summarizes the results of a research program to evaluate the applicability of available materials for use as the display media in a sonar data signal processing/interactive display system. The technical approach for meeting the objectives of the study program was to: Perform a literature survey to determine currently available optical storage and recording materials in order to evaluate the material characteristics in the context of the defined display requirements and to summarize the appropriate characteristics of the various materials; Perform an experimental investigation of the display properties of promising and available material candidates; and, To develop preliminary display system concepts for use with sonar surveillance/human operator decision making processes.
