Emulation of the Processor for Distributed Processor/Memory System on Intel 3000 Microprocessor Chip Set.

Abstract

The processor for Distributed Processor/Memory (DP/M) System was emulated using the Intel 3000 Microprocessor Chip Set. The DP/M processor is a 16-bit, two's complement, fixed point, eight register file architecture. The processor was constructed utilizing the series 3000 computing elements consisting of an array of eight Central Processing Elements (CPE) chips, one Microprogram Control Unit (MCU), one carry look ahead generator chip, and 12 control memory chips. The array of the CPE chips realized the arithmetic, logical functions and registers of the 16-bit processor. The combination of the MCU and the control memory realized the control portion of the processor.
