Design of a Psychological Experiment Processor System.

Abstract

A digital processing system was constructed to perform an automated version of the Halsted-Reitan Psychological Category Test utilizing an Intel 8080A microprocessor. The system incorporated two serial communications ports: one for the console device and the other for data transferral to another computer system. Additional input/output was provided through an interface circuit to allow inputs from a response panel and outputs to the required peripherals. The necessary software was placed in two Intel 8708(1K x 8) PROMS in order to provide permanent non-volatile program storage. In addition, a 1K byte monitor program was utilized to provide power on restart as well as some basic operator controls. Eight P8111 RAMS (1K x 8 total) were utilized to provide the necessary temporary storage. (Author)
