Mutagen and Oncogen Study on 1,1-Dimethylhydrazine

Abstract

A three tier test was organized into a matrix of assays employing microbial cells, mammalian cells in culture, and in vivo experiments in mice. 1, 1-dimethylhydrazine exhibited genetic activity in several in vitro assays. The responses were consistently obtained under conditions of microsomal enzym activation suggesting the formation an active metabolite. The dominant lethal test results were negative.
