Engineering in Support of Artillery Metal Parts Modernization Program.

Abstract

This report covers the effort conducted under MM and T Project Number 5736550 titled 'Engineering In Support of Artillery Metal Parts Modernization Program.' This project was accomplished as part of the US Army manufacturing technology program. The primary objective of this program is to develop, on a timely basis, manufacturing processes, techniques, and equipment for use in production of Army material. The project had as its purpose a study to identify the present state of the manufacturing art in our existing facilities and having identified such, suggesting areas where improvements can be made either directly or, when necessary, through the implementation of Manufacturing Methods and Technology (MM and T) programs. The purpose of the suggested MM and T programs would be to resolve or alleviate particular manufacturing problems identified during the study and improve an existing operation by reducing the cost of that operation thru reduction of scrap, direct labor, energy requirements, raw materials, etc. (Author)
